If you're looking to know your London Dry from your Navy Strength or Old Tom and need some help choosing from the thousands of gins out there... GreatGins might just be the tonic.

The Persie Distillery only began production in 2014, and yet it has already produced 3 outstanding Gins which have made a real ripple across the industry.

The Gins were created by husband and wife duo Simon and Chrissie Fairclough, who live in Scotland. Simon already has a reputation as the man behind the world’s first touring Gin club.

After taking over 150 Gins around the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland, it’s fair to say that Simon has a nose for the perfect Gin. Simon decided to build a foundation in the Gin industry, over and above other spirits because of his love of the variety, choice and creativity behind a new Gin.

The duo bought the Persie Hotel in South Perthshire back in 2013. This was the first big step on their journey.

Persie’s Sweet and Nutty Old Tom Gin is already digging into the world Gin industry. it took home a bronze in the International Home and Spirits Competition and a Silver at the Scottish Gin Awards, impressive achievements for a recently made Gin.

Sweet and Nutty Old Tom Gin is distilled in a copper pot still and distilled with the finest quality botanicals and glen water from the local hills.

Speaking of botanicals, foremost for this Gin are classic juniper, ginger, almond and vanilla.

This Gin, unsurprisingly is sweet and nutty! It carries a sugary goodness alongside its almondy dominance. But don’t mistake this for being the only thing on offer in this delicious spirt, it also has a brilliant strand of spicy ginger and a lovely undertone of peppery juniper.

The nose of this gin is dominated by an almost delicate essence vanilla running throughout, but an almond note comes through underneath as well.

The two flavours complement each other wonderfully, combining to create an almost wood like flavour.

The vanilla is thick like caramel and the almond gives it a firm backbone.

The palate has a creamy feel with vanilla and ginger bouncing of each other well. There is also a gentle nutty flavour here pulling all the botanicals together for a delightful taste.

The spice is reassuring and warm, giving the vanilla depth and refinement.

The juniper also add to the overall flavour of the Gin, giving is a peppery edge.

The finish is all almond bringing a refreshing quality to the final moments of this tasty Gin.

This is a Gin perfect for those with a sweet tooth or those who like their Gin neat but flavoursome, or really anyone who wants to try a creative and fun-filled Gin.
