You can’t go wrong with a classic gin, and Hendrick’s does the category proud.
MASTERS OF GIN
Hendrick’s have been creating gin for at least a couple of decades now, giving them a nice edge over newcomers to the market. The brand are well known and respected, given their long years in the industry. It also helps that they make great gin.
Owned by William Grant & Sons, the company that also produces excellent Scotch whisky, Hendrick’s long lifespan has allowed them to dominate a market that has become flooded with competitors. There are now gins in every category imaginable. Hendrick’s reputation helps them stand out.
In recent years they have also been bringing out new gins, including Orbium and Lunar, which are helping the brand to stay fresh and relevant. As audiences looks for innovative gins, it’s important for well known brands to respond with something out of the ordinary.
They have been using the same 12 botanicals since day one; juniper, coriander, angelica root, elderflower, grains of paradise, orange peel, lemon peel, orris root, cubeb berries, caraway seeds, yarrow and chamomile. To complete the process, the gin is infused with cucumber and rose.
HENDRICK’S GIN
The cucumber and rose infusion is a key part of the Hendrick’s gin making process. The aim of the gin is to be authentically British. The added touch of cucumber and rose gives it that true British feel. Both flavours also add excellent flavours and are very well incorporated into the overall flavour.
TASTING NOTES FOR HENDRICK’S GIN
The nose is crisp and fresh. Perfect for enjoying on a hot summer’s day. Juniper comes thorugh and has a lovely sweetness. There are hints of citrus fruits throughout.
The palate is smooth, really adding to the flavour experience. The rose notes are floral and delicate, bringing our some of the sweeter notes in the cucumber. The freshness of the nose is more obvious on the palate and works really well with the flavour.
The finish is full of citrus and sweet floral notes.
Hendrick’s have been around for a long time, and with excellent flavours, it is easy to see why they have remained so popular in the face of so much competition.
