If you're looking to know your London Dry from your Navy Strength or Old Tom and need some help choosing from the thousands of gins out there... GreatGins might just be the tonic.

Based in Hackney Downs, 58 Gin is the quest of one man to discover truly great Gin.

Mark Mamont moved from Australia to London and became a frequent visitor to The Bar with No Name, an award winning cocktail bar just a few houses down the street from where he lived.

Here he was inspired by the range of Gin based cocktails on offer and went on something of a journey to discover more about how to craft the perfect Gin.

He was eventually christened “Moonshine Mark” to regulars of The Bar with No Name, but all his hard work paid off when he was able to establish 58 Gin.

The brand was named after his house number and is a small batch, craft Gin that encapsulates Mark’s desire to bring to best flavours to his customers.

The range has recently undergone some expansion, adding a Chocolate Negroni and Navy Strength version.

The Navy Strength is exceptionally well done and you can taste the dedication that has gone into it.

It is made using the same nine botanicalsas the original, including juniper, coriander seed, orris root, angelica, cubeb pepper, Sicilian lemon, pink grapefruit, bergamot and bourbon vanilla.

The nose is packed with citrus fruit and juniper. It has a mouth-watering tang that really invites you to take a sip.

The juniper is fresh and ripe, with lots of flavour coming off it. it goes perfectly with the warmth that comes from the coriander seeds.

The palate is bold, with more citrus and lots of sweetness. There is a slight taste of the alcohol, but this only serves the other flavours.

Peppery spice and more heat from the coriander shine through and mix well with the citrus fruits.

This is a refreshing and strong Gin that knows its flavours and showcases a lovely richness.

The finish is strong, with a little hint of alcohol and big notes of juniper.
